Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today launched the Online Portal https://afd.csdindia.gov.in/ for purchase of items Against Firm Demand (AFD) from CSD Canteens. The objective of the launch of this Online Portal is to enable about 45 Lakh CSD beneficiaries including Serving & Retired persons from Armed Forces and Serving Civilian Defence employees to purchase AFD-I items (like Cars, Motorcycles, Washing machines, TVs, Fridges etc) from the comfort of their home.
Appreciating the launch of this portal, Raksha Mantri conveyed the commitment of the Govt towards the welfare of all Jawans and Officers of Armed Forces and the Veterans. He complimented the entire team for the successful completion of this project. Shri Rajnath Singh said that the project was in line with the vision of Digital India, enunciated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The ceremony was held at New Delhi. Live streaming of delivery of Cars/ Motorcycles was done from Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Jaipur for those who booked them during the trial run of the portal afd.csdindia.gov.in, which has been formally launched now and will facilitate faster and hassle-free experience to all the beneficiaries.
Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria and Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar along with other dignitaries attended the function.
AFD CSD Online Portal – FAQ
What is the periodicity of other AFD purchases?
Once in four years.
Is there any minimum service requirement as in car for other AFD items?
No, all category of canteen smartcard holders as stated above are entitled to purchase other AFD items irrespective of service period.
Who all are entitled for other AFD (Two Wheeler, Fridge, Washing Machine, T.V, AC) items?
Following category of canteen smartcard holders are authorised for other AFD items:-
- (a) Serving Armed Forces personnel.
- (b) Retired Armed Forces personnel.
- (c) Serving Defence Civilians.
Why can’t I pay through Payment Gateway/ Online Payment when I have opted for a loan?
For loan the only payment option is direct transfer because the payment gateway will accept only full payments.
Dealer Price is filled but still the error is showing, “Billing dealer price is required filed. ”?
The “Dealer Price” has to be exactly the same as the “Net price to be Paid”.
Can I change the pre-filled details in checkout form?
No, all these details are picked from the registration form that the user filled while registration. Please contact the helpdesk for further query.
Can I buy a second car from AFD within 5 years of buying the first car, if I transfer the first one to my family member’s name?
No, the car cannot be transferred before completing 5 years of purchase.
When can I buy the same category product again?
Any product of the same kind can only be bought once in a specified period. Kindly contact CS Directorate for more information.
Why do I get this alert, “You are not entitled to purchase the selected car”?
There are three entitlement categories(Officers, JCO, OR) and every category has a different allowance. If any user is getting the above said message then the user must choose a different product of lower value within their allowed limit.
What if I forget my login password?
You can reset your password using “lost your password” on login page.
Why can’t I login after registration? Or Why my login details are invalid after registration?
Users will be notified on registered email address after administrator’s approval. Login account will remain invalid till approval.
Why do I get this alert, “Email already exists”?
There is an username that is already registered with the same email id.
Why do I get this alert, “User Name already exists”?
The username entered has already been registered. Please choose different username.
Why do I get this alert, “Chip Number already exists”?
There are high chances that you already have username registered with the same Chip Number. Please contact the helpdesk at 0120-4699923.
Why do I get this alert, “Grocery Card ID already exists”?
There are high chances that you already have username registered with the same Grocery Card ID. Please contact the helpdesk at 0120-4699923.

Terms & Conditions – Purchased AFD CSD Items Through Online Portal
I certify that I am eligible for purchase of the item as per “Eligibility Criteria” issued by Canteen Service Directorate. Details are given in link below.
The item will be used for personal use and will not be sold/ transferred before completion of four years from date of purchase (for four wheelers – five years)
In case of any violation of rules, like being ineligible as per Pay Level, declaring wrong category (Offr/ JCO/ OR), purchase of four wheeler with a gap less than 8 years and purchase of two wheeler/ any other AFD1 item with a gap of less than four years, I am liable to following actions:-
- (a) My demand will be cancelled.
- (b) All my Canteen Smart Cards will be blocked for 3 years
- (c) Refund of money will be given after 90 days.
- (d) In case of Serving Pers — my unit will be informed to initiate disciplinary action against me.
- In case I withdraw my application/ cancel my demand for any personal reason after issue of Purchase Order, I am liable for following action
- (a) 5% of the total cost of item will be deducted as “Cancellation Charges” from my refund amount.
- (b) Balance refund amount will be given after 90 days.
I understand that all “Chargeback/ Disputes” for online payment method on this portal will not be entertained as the amount gets deposited to Consolidated Fund of India (CFI). Refund, if any will be taken by me separately from Depot/ CSD Head Office and not from the issuing bank.
I accept all the above conditions.
